Karen our wonderful Cook here in Ampfield has been running a cookery class with the Kindergarten children.
The children have been interested in traffic and road safety. When they have been out and about they have noticed and discussed the different traffic signs, and in particular traffic lights. So Karen incorporated this into the cooking activity, showing them how to make their own fruit and vegetable traffic light kebabs, which they ate with their tea. The children had such a sense of accomplishment from putting the kebab together and the end result!
These cookery sessions started at the end of last year. We try to hold them on a different day of the week to include as many of our children as possible. There will definitely be more chopping practice coming up, not just in the ‘cookery school’ but in other activities the children are up to as well.
