Ampfield Nursery

Ampfield Nursery is nestled in the countryside set back from the main road running between Winchester and Romsey. The building is a modern barn conversion that has been refurbished to provide a high quality child friendly environment. Babies and Transition children are able to watch the birds and wild animals in the garden through the full length windows as well as enjoy walks through the woods to an open glade. The Toddlers and Kindergarten children have direct access to the garden, Toddlers can access outside play on their own deck and the lawn via a slide.

At Yellow Dot Nursery Ampfield we believe it is important to consider the individual needs of each child. We value the children recognising the role adults play, and that children and adults learn from each other enriching each other's lives. We offer a balanced programme of activities designed to be both stimulating and educational whilst being fun.

Our activities are founded on the Early Years Foundation Stage which focuses on:

  • Personal and social skills
  • Communication language and literacy
  • Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

We believe children and adults learn from each other and enrich each others lives. The nursery is divided into four areas:

staffquote
My name is Jackie and I am the Manager of Yellow Dot nursery in Ampfield. I joined the Yellow Dot team in October 2009, after leaving teaching in Southampton. Although I taught junior school age children, I always enjoyed interacting with the younger children. In 2012 I achieved my Early Years Professional Status. As the new manager of an outstanding nursery, I hope that both staff and children feel welcomed and important, and that their presence in the nursery is valued by everyone.
